Flag day today.

Went to Tampines MRT Station to assemble and realised that the location is actually in Pasir Ris. Aiyo. In the end we started at around 8.50am instead of 8.30am.

Went to have breakfast first before going around Singapore trying to ask for donations. But wherever I go, there are always people carrying a tin asking for donations. The only place which I collected around half of the total money I collected was in school! Haha. Went back to school at 12+ when choir practice just ended, and saw quite a lot of choir members in the canteen.

I went back at around 1+, just to find Marcus standing beside the collection place, standing and eating food from McDonalds. He called me twice I think, while my phone was switched off because the battery was flat. He collected twice the amount I collected. That's very very good. But well anyway the remark he got when he returned the tin was "Good", while there was no remarks for me, and for Daniel it was "very light".

I returned the tin at 2.50pm, just nice 6 hours so I am done with CIP for the whole of this year, and in fact, for the whole of 4 years. I think I have 108 hours already.

Anyway, Ernest posted in his blog that he lost his handphone while playing in a LAN shop during CIP (*coughs coughs*). He also put "I lost my hp" as his personal message, and Wei Liang, being very lame (and imba, but that's beside the point), told him this:
I also lost my hp. I mean, I lost my Hwa Phaik.

* Our Geography teacher was Mrs Lee Hwa Phaik.

Talking about Mrs Lee, I think what Kenn said on the MRT train was true (while we were on our way from Tampines to Pasir Ris). He said that we didn't cherish things when they were there, and when they are gone, we regret. When Mrs Lee was still teaching us, we kept complaining about her being boring and giving too much homework, and always hoping that she doesn't come for class. Now that she's gone, it has left a big impact on most of us, even though our first Geography lesson with another teacher hasn't arrived yet.

She is really a very good teacher.

Okay this took me more than 3 years to notice, but I realised that all the school computers have a common server. Thing is, after I log in to my own username to a computer today during Mr Chew's lesson, I noticed that there are a few shortcuts to folders. One of them is "My Workspace", whereby each Victorian is given around 10 MB (I think) to store files, and we can view ALL the folders but not access them (so sad). But actually no point because I doubt anyone uses them.

What I did was towards the end of Mr Chew's lesson, I log in to the computer Jun Yuan was using, using my username. So as to say, Jun Yuan and I swopped computer. Then I put a blank file onto the "My Workspace" and that file got transferred instantaneously. So it's somelike like a server.

So as I was saying, I took very long to notice this.

Anyway, today our class had some cable skiing at the SKI360 (so-called "The Lagoon") during PE. I didn't sign up, so I was watching my classmates fall into the water, haha. They said that the water is "salty to the max"! Anyway it seems fun, but thing is...
1) 5 sessions, and it will get bored after a while. It's definitely very fun for the first time.
2) I still have to pay $60 if I want to join next week
3) It's still too expensive.

Okay so in the end I told Mr Tan I don't want.

Mrs Lee had her last lesson with us today. She told us at the end of the day and half the class was quite surprised. She said it may be good or bad news to us, haha. I think it's more of bad news lah. She's quite a good teacher even though she may be boring at times. I am not sure about Mrs Bala, our new teachers, because I haven't been taught by her before. But I heard that she's not really that good.

Mr Pang was very lame today. Okay in fact he is lame every day. Because the room next to us was Project Room, and Mr Thiru was using it for his history lesson, and because that sound can travel from their room to our room, our class could hear the video Mr Thiru was showing his class during Mr Pang's lesson. And accompanying it was the sound effects as well as the background music, music which so-called represent wars. And Mr Pang was teaching locus of points at that time...

Suddenly, he turned around and began "shooting" us using both his hands. Then he turned back to the screen and began to "violently" make hand gestures regarding the lines on the screen. It was really very very very lame. -.-

Had SYF auditions today. I was very disappointed with the tenors. Basic techniques and technical stuffs in the scores were not used. The holding of note from vir-gi-ne to pas-sus, from that part to cru-ci-fi-xus. What happened?

I saw that quite a lot of people are happy that they are in the SYF team. But the real thing has actually just started. It hasn't ended yet. I wondered why they were sort of celebrating about that kind of victory.

Tomorrow is Friday and there's PE lesson. Which means that there's this cable ski thing which I didn't sign up for. But I think it's not too late. Should I sign up? I want to go but I don't know how to swim, so whenever I fall into the water I need someone to save me. Haha.

By the way, I noticed that Mr Ee has a weird way of greeting us at the start (as well as at the end) of each lesson. He would say the same thing: "Okay boys, hands by your side, stand straight, let's wish each other, 1, 2, 3... good morning boys," and he would then put his right hand in an awkward position just above his waist with the palm facing upwards and fingers closed. Well there was twice whereby he actually gestured his hands in a circular motion. Strange.

By the way, yesterday I couldn't take it. Mrs Lee's lesson was at the end of the day so I bought White Chrysanthemum Tea up during recess. When I reached the 5th floor I was stopped by this prefect who wanted to confiscated my bottle. Well I just told him I would go down and drink, which I went to the 4th floor and used the other staircase up to the 7th floor.

Anyway I think I was passing by 2D when I saw Miss F Yeo trying to explain to the class some things and she asked the class whether they understood what she said. I heard some boys from the back shouting [and giggling], "Yes sir!"

Speaking about 7th floor, my classroom is all the way at the top. It's extremely tiring to climb up and down for recess and all sorts of things. And furthermore our class is facing the "wrong" way, as in facing the school foyer area. Behind our class there's this "door-curtain" which separates our class from the Project Room. So Neng Wei, Alvin, Aditya and I were playing with it because we sit at the back of the class. Quite fun haha, but very distracting.

Oh I have just shifted from the first row to the last row in class on Tuesday. I didn't want to sit too near the whiteboard, plus I am quite tall, so I wanted to sit somewhere behind. I told Mr Pang about it and he changed my place with Wee Kiat, who initially sat at the back. So now I am there, and the good thing, other than playing with the "door-curtain", is that there are 2 tables for me since no one sits beside me, so I can put more things on the tables.

Woo! I feel damn good today.

PE after taking all the height and weight stuffs we went to play soccer. Played at one small stretch on the field (goalless) before splitting into 2 and our group played the big goal post. I took out my shoes and was a goalkeeper, Ryan was the goalie at the other end.

Jun Ren (who was in my team) told Mr Tan the score was 1-0 to us when it was still goalless. So in the end Mr Tan decided to help the other team. I think we were down 2-0 when he came in haha. Then he decided to help us and Ernest scored 2 goals in a few minutes. Not bad sia.

Then once Aditya shot against me. I managed to save it because it was somewhat in front of me, but couldn't catch the ball. Tried to catch the ball when it was on the ground, but either Timothy kicked it away just before I touched it or I missed. Lol. Then just when Timothy was about to shoot I pounced to block the goal, and the ball hit my face and went out. Woo!

Okay lah actually that was tyco. But considering that I haven't been a goalkeeper for such a long time and I haven't dived for even a longer time, it was great. Well once Gabriel tried to score from the left side of the goal, which ole me and it went out. Lucky me -.-

The score ended as a draw, 4-4. Not bad. Ryan was doing well as usual, he saved quite a lot of shots which were supposed to be goals. Ernest scored a hat-trick.

Oh yeah, quite funny when Mr Tan played for the opposing team. Someone kicked a high ball into the penalty area, and Mr Tan took out his spectacles and said, "My one, my one!" and then he headed the ball towards the goal, which was caught by me lah, because it was quite weak, but it was accurate.

For the next 5 PE lessons we have to go to the cable ski park for our PE lesson. I didn't sign up for it, because:
1) It's expensive. $60 for 5 sessions of around 1 hour each.
2) It's actually less than 1 hour per session. Not excluding the time for briefing of the activity, we still need to jog there, which takes around 15 minutes.
3) Even if we fully utilise the 60 minutes, we still have to spend our recess time jogging back to school, plus changing or showering.
4) If let's say 25 people in my class sign up, then what? We only get to go for 3 rounds around it ah? For $12.
5) I don't know how to swim, and Mr Tan said that we have to know how.
6) I'd rather ride a bike which I haven't done so for very long, plus the bike is free.
7) It's still too expensive.

Okay yeah. But anyway I think only a few are interested. Haha. Sorry, but I think 4A is like that. No choice.

Anyway, this morning's assembly went quite differently. Things went this way: The sec 3 prefect Changda said "School, attention!" when we were all seated (supposed to be the command: Good morning school). So Mr Maran was quite pissed off because half the school was laughing and asked whether anyone wants to volunteer to take over the prefect's job. This scholar from 3D was the only one to raise up his hand so he took over instead. After the ceremony, Principal spoke to us about why we are having the ceremony itself.

Okay I wasn't laughing when the prefect screwed up. Okay, I admit that I was smirking, but not because of that, but because I recalled an incident earlier this year (can't remember much details) whereby a prefect said "School... " something, when supposingly the same old command was to be given. Anyway, I think what Principal blamed us for was wrong. I think the whole school wasn't laughing at the ceremony itself, and neither were we laughing at the prefect. We were just probably laughing at the fact that someone said the command wrongly (note the difference). Simply because of the fact that no one was laughing when the whole national anthem was being sung, and when the pledge was being taken. Why don't we just laugh it off (and treat it as something outside of the ceremony) and carry on with life?

This afternoon we had both Chemistry and Physics test. Both tests were quite easy but I am not sure whether I will read any questions wrongly and make silly careless mistakes. I am actually hoping to score full marks for both papers.

Both tests were revision tests which cover the topics taught in sec 3. I didn't really study until this morning when I just took out my notebook to read. I don't believe in last minute mugging, though. I just wondered why so many people panic and start to study so many many days ago, and even until 5 minutes before the paper starts. I believe in consistent work.

I was quite surprised by one of the Physics MCQ Question:
Q14. By experiment, a student found the heat capacity of an object. How can be find the specific heat capacity of that same object from the heat capacity he obtained?

A) Find the mass of the object and multiply the heat capacity with it.
B) Find the mass of the object and divide the heat capacity by it.
C) It cannot be found in the school laboratory. It can only be found in science research books.
D) Both values are the same.

Read option C again. Read it again. Ask yourself this: What?! Okay most probably you would have asked it before reading that sentence. I think they ran out of options or something. And Benjamin Lin actually chose C!!!

Okay answer is B anyway.

Last Friday (Tan) Wei Liang and I went to see Mr Pang after school outside the staff room for him to teach us "Differentiation" in A-Maths, because both of us missed his lessons due to CCA trials. But well, thing is while we were looking for him, Mdm Teo saw us and told us to tell those students who scored at least a Bronze for last year's Maths Olympiad competition to go for a meeting on Tuesday (originally Friday but brought earlier because we have tests on Friday afternoon). Yeah so she had to go into the staff room to photocopy the name list. Meanwhile Mr Pang came out and went in again to get his A-Maths textbook. So you see that Wei Liang and I are actually handling teachers instead of them handling us. So in the end Mr Pang had to wait for a while haha.

Mdm Teo also told me about her son (now sec 1) wanting to join choir. But according to Miss Lau, her son has a big fat "X" during the 2nd round of auditions, when Mr Kwei auditioned him. But Mdm Teo said that her son is very interested to join choir. Hmmm.

Differentiation is quite a complicated topic, and it's very long. Chapters 12 to 16 are all on differentiation, and chapter 13 alone has Exercises 13A to 13I. It's actually a topic whereby some formulae need to be memorised, and also things get very tedious when you try to "differentiate" an expression. I think I need some time to memorise them.

So today Wei Liang, North and I went to each class to tell those people about tomorrow's meeting. We went straight after recess during Mrs Setho's lesson, but she was not around anyway. We only had 1 pass shared among us and we saw Mr Chia. Haha. We sort of played hide-and-seek with him lah. We also walked past Mr Maran but we know he won't care one.

Oh talking about North, that's his nickname but I think he wants us to call him North. Mdm Nabilah was like quite surprised last week, when she knew about him, and mentioned that she doesn't like to call people by directions. Yeah well so North is the pro-est in Maths in our class. Last year's Maths olympiad competition he scored 24 for first round, I scored only 17 and Wei Liang scored either 13 or 14.

Okay anyway when the bell rang at 11.20am, the 3 of us were at the 4th floor and the sec 2s had their Mother Tongue lessons. So this guy, apparently Wei Liang's junior, suddenly went up behind him and using a rather high-pitched voice, he went, "Eh Wei Liang? Hehehehehe!!" Yeah it was extremely funny and I was like suan-ing Wei Liang on our way back to class.

Anyway, I have been appointed the A-Maths rep! Aiyo, kena sabotaged by my class. Now gotta collect a lot of homework. Maybe what Mr Pang said is true: he may find some of the worksheets missing ;). Jkjk.

Mr Gabriel is not teaching us Biology anymore because Ms Ismail has left and he has to teach the lower sec. Haha. So we got Mdm Nabilah. At first our whole class thought she is very strict but in the end we found out that she is very lame...

After our topics on drugs, according to her, which she just started teaching, we will be doing sexual reproduction... ... in plants. Haha she purposely paused there for a while trying to get our attention. Nice one -.-

During Mrs Lee's lessons today I suddenly heard someone shout:

I MUST TUCK IN MY SHIRT!
I MUST TUCK IN MY SHIRT!
I MUST TUCK IN MY SHIRT!
...

Haha it's damn funny lah, and I think I was the only one in class to get distracted by that. I dunno which evil teacher punished the student this way...

Very busy these few days.

Have to worry about choir like nobody's business. Standard has dropped by a lot. Thursday and Friday Chuan En suddenly came during our choir practice. Old senior sia, as in really very old. When I was a sec 1 he was a sec 4. Saturday Ling Chung, Reuben, Ian and Desmond came. Haha.

It's around 3 months to SYF. Yes Chan Wei, it's 3 months. We're all looking forward to it. Have to discuss the strategies with Jonathan and Pock Thong.

Anyway, this morning it was the auditions for the sec 1s so I managed to escape class for almost the whole day. Was not very enthusiastic about it because every year the sec 1s are quite all right, but still managed to shortlist 46 people from 3 classes. Looks like we're gonna get many altos huh.

Went back to class only during Chemistry Laboratory. Did some funny reaction of metals with acid. Oh we're supposed to stir the mixture with a thermometer to find the highest temperature that can be recorded. Then while I was borrowing a cloth from Junzhe's table to wipe away the water I saw him stirring. Well he was literally poking lah and the test-tube broke. Thing is, it only broke at the bottom and it was not noticable at all until the acid started to drip out from the bottom. We were all like quite surprised, haha.

And what Chan Wei said, observations about that metal reacting with the acid can be: Water level decreases until only metal is left in the test-tube. Haha.

I'm still left with many holiday homework to do. I think I better go now and try to finish them. Haha.

Woke up very early today. Still have some time before going to school so update my blog for a while. No point going to school so early.

Normally I cannot sleep on the first day of school. Well, this year it has been different. I managed to sleep very well. Despite sleeping from 5am to 3pm for the past 4 days, I manage to sleep at around 11+pm last night and waking up at 5.25am this morning without the alarm clock.

Maybe it's because this year it's nothing special. I should be very eager about the first day of my sec 1 life. Sec 2 is probably the same because I was going to be a senior of a batch. Sec 3 too, because I was going to wear long pants to school. Sec 4? What, I am eager about 'O' levels huh?

I might doze off in class this afternoon though. Oh no last lesson for today is GeogSS. Sure fall asleep liao.

I may be having a bad start for this year. I haven't finished all my holiday homework... SCREWED! Well not exactly screwed, because I manage to survive every year not finishing homework, but I would have to chiong them sooner or later. This leaves no time to complete homework that are going to be given out, and that leaves no time to revise work. Hoho!

O2jam game client has been down since yesterday morning. They claimed that they have a hardware failure. Hardware failure? That may be very serious, like what happened to Diaryland last year, they may have to get a new hardware and try to restore everything.
