Went to school today for a Principal's talk first. Got to know some of my results: SS I got 66, but I dunno whether it's SS alone or SS and Geography combined. E maths I got 95 and English I got 44/60 for Paper 1. Not say very good because I think my English will go down to a B4 when combined with Paper 2.

After that Phuong, Duong, Wei Liang and I watched a bit of floorball in the school hall. Seems like VS organised a friendly league for 5 primary schools, and VS Sec 1s played in the league as well. The first complete game I saw was at around 9am, and it was VS versus Pasir Ris primary school. Guess who won?

Wrong, guess again.

Pasir Ris primary school won VS by 9-0, in a 15-minute game. Haix. I think Mr Amir was very sad. I could tell PRPS was much more united than the VS boys, and the VS goalkeeper couldn't catch the balls properly.

After that we went up to the 7th floor for the Maths Olympiad Open Section. Yesterday's Senior Section paper I could do 20+ questions out of 35, which is quite an improvement because last year I only could do 17 questions. For the open section, whereby none are MCQs, I think I could only do around half the questions, out of 25 questions in total. Plus the atmosphere was very tense because 90% of the people in that room were scholars, and 90% of the scholars were from China. So it seemed like the 10% of us were just there to get thrashed. Oh and did I mention, there were actually some scholars sleeping throughout the paper, and some even left early, while I was struggling at the questions up to the last minute. Lol.

After the 2-and-a-half hour paper, I went back to the hall, just to find out that VS floorball lost in 4 out of 5 games played (and all were against primary schools).

I am busy this week. I had SPA today, and will be having on Friday (2 of them) and next Monday. SMO Senior section was held today, and there is still the Open section tomorrow. Chemistry class on Friday and Geography on next Tuesday. Choir practice this Saturday, most likely.

Anyway, I got D7 for Chinese Prelim 1. 45 marks exactly. So my prediction was wrong anyway (prediction was E8). Well, doesn't matter, I can use Physics, Chemistry, E and A maths to make up for it for L1R5.

Just leave here a maths statement: sin 10° * sin 30° * sin 50° * sin 70° * sin 90° = 1/16 exactly.

This morning during morning assembly, our new vice-principal was speaking to us. Now I shall not embarrass myself by trying to spell his name here because I don't know how to spell, in fact, I am not sure whether my pronunciation is correct or not. But anyway, we have a new vice-principal (academics) and he's quite tall, I would say.

Halfway during his speech, I overheard the conversation between Neng Wei and Chan Wei:

[Neng Wei]: Why is his voice going higher and higher?
[Chan Wei]: I think one hour later he will break into falsetto.

Haha.

This whole week we are having "intensive" mother tongue revision. Quite ironic because during the 4 hours of the revision yesterday, our class only did 1 letter writing exercise, which should take at most 1 hour to finish. Today at least it was somewhat more "intensive", with us being in the computer laboratory the whole day and doing the online exercises, then after our recess Mr Chew discussed through the exam paper which I did not sit for. My prediction was wrong, I am the only guy with F9 for Chinese in my class (prediction was E8).

After Chinese, I went straightaway for Biology practical which was just cutting of potato slices. Then after that went for Chemistry class on Alkanes and Alkenes. Very weird because register numbers 22-41 from our class had lesson today and register numbers 1-21 will have it tomorrow.

After which, Phuong, Duong, Wei Liang and I had to go for Mathematical Olympiad training. As usual only the lower secondary students turned up, so when we turned up, Mdm Teo said now it was for us to teach the students and for her to have a break.

Man it was real hard teaching the students, especially with many people in front asking questions. One question posted was: "Why is square root of 10 multiplied by square root of 10 equals to 10?" I thought for quite long because this question is really very trivial. Really very trivial.

Afterward Wei Liang told me he came across something even more funny. His junior asked him: "What key is Canon in D in?"

Part 1 of Prelims 1 has just ended. Next I must worry about intensive MT revision, after which there's 'O' level Chinese and Singapore Mathematical Olympiad, both senior and open sections. I don't think I will do well for the open section anyway.

Coming back to school during the first week of school holiday for the 3 SPAs. Clashes with 2 of the SPAs so I think I need to reschedule them. The teachers are very smart because for Physics and Biology, those are our actual SPAs counted for 'O' levels, so we can't possibly skip them or something.

Here are my predictions for my scores for Prelim 1:
English - C5
Geography/SS - C5
Chinese - E8
E Maths - A1

I'll end this post with something from Tan Wei Liang. He created this, probably due to the overload mugging of geography and social studies.

Structured Essay Question
a) How far is Social Studies a source of stress in secondary school life? Explain your answer. [12]
b) Do you agree that Geography is the most time-consuming subject? Explain your answer. [13]

If you had to choose, which would you rather have? A running nose that is sometimes blocked, and no matter how much you blow, there is always something there; or a fever and having the whole body ache such that you can't move about without help from somebody else?

Sorry, touch wood, but what if you have to choose one (and the better one of course)?

I would choose the latter. Because if your nose is blocked or something, you can't breathe well no matter where you go and what you are doing. If you breathe through your mouth you'll find your lips dry in no time. On the other hand, if you have a fever you can just lie down or something, and probably forget about the pain in your whole body.

I'm suffering from a fever and a body ache now, and a bit of diarrhoea just now. Isn't it interesting to know that whenever you are not feeling well, you tend to think of many things around you, and also things which are imaginery? I think some of the weirdest things that you have thought of your whole life are thought when you are unwell.

And I think my hearing is being affected as well. The messenger alert sound seems a bit higher in pitch than the normal, though I doubt it's the speakers' fault. So it must be me.

I'm not sure if I should go to school tomorrow.

I was on a double-decker bus service 31 just now on the way home, and I sat at the back of the bus on the upper deck. I noticed there was one message which read: "9####### Free Sex". This is not my first time encountering such messages, of course, but every time I encounter this I will wonder... is this person a guy or a girl? They say "free sex" but they didn't say which gender they are and which gender the message is written for!

So let's just say I am some horny guy and wants to have sex. So I call that number and I will go:

[Me]: Hey, I saw your number on the bus and want to have sex with you.
[Person at the other side (with damn manly voice)]: F*ck you lah, (followed by a string of vulgarities).

I mean, come on, hey I didn't know you are a guy, you did not say anything. You could have written: "9####### Free sex for girls ONLY" or something along this line.

I just finished my Chinese paper 1 today. It is the longest essay I have ever written in an exam. I wrote 3 pages for each of my essay and informal letter. I almost could not finish... was rushing through and finished 3 minutes before the paper ended. Last time I usually spend the last half an hour sleeping (and those were after checking through for wrong words, weird phrasing, etc). Wow, what a record.

On the other hand, we were given 1 hour to complete a 4-mark Chemistry Mock SPA Planning. I took extra long to write each section of the paper and was still left with 15 minutes. Remarkable... nice distribution of time. I'd rather sacrifice those 15 minutes for let's say... Social Studies or Geography Elective exam.

(During Physics lesson Mrs Setho was teaching us the chapter on Cathode Ray Oscillope)

[Mrs Setho]: An electron gun shoots out electrons, just like a water gun which shoots out water.
(After a while, Mrs Setho saw Jun Yuan laughing)

[Mrs Setho]: Jun Yuan, why are you so funny?
[Kenn] (answering for Jun Yuan): Ma'am, you said an electron gun shoots out electrons and a water gun shoots out water right?
[Mrs Setho]: Yah.
[Kenn]: ... then what does a machine gun shoots out?
(laughter from class)

[Wei Kai]: Kenn, you are damn lame leh.
[Kenn]: Wei Kai... ... hand gun!
(more hysterical laughter from class)

Finished Biology SPA yesterday. The experiment was very easy, because all the instructions were given step by step. However, I still have Physics SPA next Monday/Tuesday because it is somewhat like a make-up for the last Physics SPA that we had, since we all did not do well. And also, I heard that MOE does not like the way the school gave us the Biology and Physics SPAs because titles like "Tabulations", "Key Source of Error" and "Conclusion" were written for us. MOE says this should not be the case, instead we should be given a blank piece of paper for the recording of everything, like those in Chemistry. Hence what heppens is that the whole sec 4s got penalised on the SPAs that we took which had these titles.
